Power facilities targeted in Ukraine
Ukraine's power facilities have faced escalating strikes in the past few days

Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused power cuts in large parts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were wounded while residents in eastern neighborhoods were left without electricity and dealt with problems to drinking water, per reports from city officials.

Meanwhile, a young boy was killed in a distinct assault in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southern area, based on information from area administrators.

Moscow has intensified assaults on power infrastructure over the last fortnight, while the country's government has requested "substantial measures" from allies to exert influence on Russia.

"The necessity is not window dressing but strong steps - from the America, Europe and the G7 - in providing air defence systems and applying restrictions," mentioned in a public message.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and more than 30 projectiles attacked energy facilities, labeling such assaults as "cynical and calculated" and against "critical infrastructure" as the weather cools.

The energy minister said Moscow was "conducting extensive attacks" and maintenance teams were striving to restore power.

A barrage of missiles hit electrical systems and apartment buildings in Kyiv.

Multiple people hurt in the attacks on the capital have been hospitalized, as confirmed by local officials.
